Established in 2019Coding for Young Minds is a not for profit community organization based in Ontario, Canada. Our organization aims to bring live complimentary STEM teaching webinars, STEM Blog articles and STEM workshop events to help elementary, middle and high school students in the community to further develop their skills in terms of knowledge regarding subjects related to STEM, and to help them understand fundamental concepts such as Mathematics, Science, Coding, and Engineering.

About Our Founder
Arya Peruma
Founder and Lead Coding/STEM Instructor

Arya Peruma is the lead Coding/STEM instructor and is responsible for developing and delivering informative live STEM webinars, STEM related articles and STEM workshop events. She is currently a high school student attending Lorne Park Secondary School. At the age of 7, Arya started to submerge herself in the world of Coding and STEM, and quickly discovered her immense passion for it. From her middle school years, has given many hours towards volunteering and working for tutoring organizations, and there, sparked an interest towards educating and teaching others. At the age of 13, Arya also received The University of McMaster’s Engineering Scholarship for her work in coding and engineering. Her most recent accolades include The Ontario Medal for Young Volunteers awarded by the Government of Ontario for her dedication to make STEM and coding education inclusive and accessible. It is the highest recognition a young person can achieve for their outstanding volunteer contributions to the province.
She also received the COVID Heroes Award from the City of Mississauga for her outstanding contributions in making STEM and coding education accessible and inclusive to students during the pandemic.
She is an individual who is extremely passionate about equal opportunity in STEM, as well as a greater deal of inclusivity and accessibility within STEM. She founded Coding for Young Minds Community Organization at age 14. She has also opened Coding for Young Minds Coding Lab- a space where students can get hands on Coding and STEM experience for free, which allows more barriers pertaining to STEM education be broken down. Her passions include subjects regarding STEM, such as coding, mathematics, science, and engineering. She has also completed certification courses for Java, C#, python, HTML, JavaScript, and completed a coding project in virtual reality game development.
